| THE BUTLER FAMILY; $15; Simon Butler was born in south Wales, probably in the 1680s. In 1710 he and a group of Baptists left Llangennech, Wales, and landed in Philadelphia. After living in the Welsh Tract, Simon settled in Bucks Co., Pa., where he became a major landowner. He was a miller and his partner and lifelong friend from Wales, Simon Matthew, was a millwright. He had sons Benjamin and Simon. Simon Butler's granddaughter Margaret married Simon Matthew's grandson Nathan. Unlike most other books in stock, this book focuses only on the early generations. | THE CAREY FAMILY: updated 1996 edition; William Carey was born in Sussex Co. Delaware and married Hannah Pettyjohn. Son Wingate married Mary Reynolds in the 1790s. He was in the militia unit that marched to defend Lewes during the War of 1812 and for this his widow was granted bounty land. Shadrack migrated to Scott Co., Ind.; Mesheck's daughter Sally married Richard Fitzsimmons and migrated to Scott.
